To put it simply, Bahraini artist Balqees Fakhro embodies the realism of art in her humanity and approach. The delicate nature of art adds strength and conviction to her work to tell it like it is. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Art History from Lone Mountain College in San Francisco, USA. She is also a member of the International Centre for Women Artists (ICWA). In1994, she took part in the “Powers of Change: Arab Women Reshaping Reality” Exhibition which toured the USA for two years.

She also travelled as a member of the GCC Friends of the Arts to several countries, including Damascus, Amman, Cairo, Tunis, Madrid, Bonn, Istanbul and New York. Her work entitled “City” was selected as the poster for the 19th Symposium at the Centre for Contemporary Arab Studies in Georgetown University in Washington, DC. Balqees also worked as Professor of Fine Arts at the University of Bahrain for some time, and earned several awards over her career, including the Golden Palm Award at the 27th Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition.
