The importance of the ancient Saar settlement lies in the fact that it contains interlocking burial mounds, a temple, and a residential settlement. The establishment of the museum will help to promote the site and provide basic services and information for visitors, in addition to the research center specializing in archaeological and excavation research which will attract local and international researchers. We decided that this museum, which was designed by the prominent Japanese architect Tadao Ando, would also serve as the regional headquarters of the Arab Regional Center for World heritage because of the site’s historical significance as a candidate for inscription on the list of World heritage sites. The preliminary designs were funded by Kuwait Finance House.
