This lecture will focus on some unexplained discoveries made these last years at Qal’at al-Bahrain site which still puzzle the archaeologists, who often fail to find convincing explanations. Among them, are the functioning of the famous "toilets" of the Late Dilmun Palace, the exact archaeological context of the Tylos grave-stones displayed in the Site Museum, or the possibly playful role of two stone blocks from the Islamic layers.

Dr. Pierre Lombard is the Head the French Archaeological Mission to Bahrain, in charge of the excavations at Qal'at al-Bahrain site since 1989. He is also Adviser for Archaeological Affairs at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities.
