The Bahrain Music Band and the Qalali Folk Band set to perform at the Cultural Hall & Dar Al Muharraq

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities will host a pair of concerts that highlight the rich musical traditions of Bahrain headlined by renowned local bands The Bahrain Music Band (Oct 20) performing at the Cultural Hall and the Qalali Folk Band (Oct 22) at Dar Al Muharraq. The concerts are part of the 2016 edition of the Bahrain International Music Festival.
The Bahrain Music Band has been the kingdom’s music ambassador in celebrations and events locally and abroad since its establishment in 1997. Over the past two decades, the band collaborated with a long list of Bahraini, Arab, and international artists from an array of musical genres. In addition, the band has served as a springboard for many now-famous Bahraini singers, composers, and musicians.
The Qalali Folk Band’s concert will conclude this year’s slate of music concerts, in which they will regale the audience with tunes that harken back to the island’s unique and deep-rooted seafaring and pearling musical traditions, including the local Fjiri genre which local legends say was learned through a chance encounter with mysterious supernatural forces.
Now in its 25th year, the 2016 Bahrain International Music Festival takes place from October 13 – 22. Full details on all the festival’s shows, events, and activities are available on (www.culture.gov.bh) and on (@culturebah) on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
