HRH Premier to patronize 44th Bahrain Annual Arts Exhibition

Under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) will kick off the 44th edition of the Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition on 17 January 2018. This year edition of the  exhibition  will be held in the tent set by BACA next to Arad Fort as part of the events celebrating "Muharraq as Capital of Islamic Culture 2018".

This year edition will present a collection of local and international artists residing in the Kingdom; 53 artists, including Bahrainis and residents, will be able to showcase their creative pieces  during the event. The artworks presented by artists will tackle various subjects using different means and techniques, such as painting, photography, installation, sculpture and others. A competition, supervised by an international jury, will be held during the opening ceremony to honor the three first winners. The exhibition brought together many renowned artists with their  art works, which  will greatly accentuated the standards of competition. As the judges were not local, it  will assure more neutrality in their selection of winners. The first will receive the "Al-Dana" award, designed by artist Khalil Al-Hashimi, while the second will have the opportunity to showcase their work during a one-month expo at the Art Centre. Meanwhile, the third winner will showcase their artworks abroad.

Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition reflects  His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s belief in art as a means to bring about a positive impact on society and make the world a better place. Held under HRH patronage since 1972, the event reveals the Prime Minister’s  growing keenness to universalize the experience of art, to support, encourage and honor young artists in Bahrain.

in addition, the results of the 6th  Bahrain International Sculpture Symposium, held at the Bahrain National Museum under the supervision of world-renowned Egyptian fine artist and sculptor Adam Hanin for 10 days, will be announced.

Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition celebrates the creativity and ingenuity of the Kingdom’s artists. Every year, members of the arts community gather to present their finest work, uninhibited by a subject or theme. The result is a colourful display of styles, techniques and different mediums of expression. Every year, the fine arts exhibition acts as an innovative form for debate in which the different artistic monologues will have an exclusive opportunity to communicate according to the forms chosen, from calligraphy to surrealism and abstract and modernist representations to more traditional cultural expressions. It provides an opportunity to highlight different schools of thought, artists’ perceptions and ideological backgrounds.
