H.E Shaikha Mai receives Tunisian Ambassador, “Our Year of Archaeology” and 2017 Bahrain Summer Festival Events Discussed

As part of her strategy to encourage dialogue between cultures and civilizations, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) President, received, on 4 July 2017 , the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H.E Mohammed Bin Youssef.

H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed the Tunisian ambassador lauding the strenuous efforts deployed to strengthen relations between the two countries. H.E also said that culture is one of the key means of human rapprochement between peoples and civilizations, praising the development and diversity of Tunisia's cultural scene, which adds deep-fathomed cultural dimensions to the ancient heritage of the country. H.E commended constructive BACA-Tunisian Embassy cooperation, stressing the importance of culture in spearheading sustainable economic, tourism and social development.

The Tunisian ambassador, for his part, praised the role undertaken by BACA in boosting the local cultural activity and efforts in conservation of heritage, protection of antiquities in addition to cultural and artistic shows that promote the Kingdom of Bahrain regionally and internationally. The two sides also explored ways and means of boosting cooperation in the field of culture and heritage. The meeting covered BACA's activities for this year that are part of the Authority's celebration of “ Our Year of Archaeology 2017” and Bahrain Summer Festival in its 9th edition. The Tunisian ambassador expressed his hope to see more cultural cooperation in the upcoming period that reflects the deep historic ties between the two countries and to project mutual Arab cultural strategies.
