The 2017 Bahrain Summer Festival, organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, For the ninth year in a row, is back with many exciting surprises and unforgettable events. The program of the festival was unveiled during a press conference, held on 18 June 2017 during BACA’s Ramadan annual employees gathering at Nakhool Tent near Qala’at al Bahrain Site Museum. H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities attended the press conference, as well as diplomats, BACA officials and media personalities.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa said “ We meet today to celebrate two happy events; the annual gathering of BACA’s employees who have deployed strenuous efforts during a whole year to enhance the cultural activities in Bahrain, and the joy to unveil Bahrain Summer Festival program that will spread happiness throughout our kingdom through Nakhool Tent to be installed in a different location each year”. H.E added saying “ this tent gathers today lovers and defenders of culture and those who sponsor culture too. This same tent will gather in a few weeks different events and activities, as part of Bahrain Summer Festival that attracts many visitors from Bahrain and abroad to enjoy its line-up of events. The festival’s location is very symbolic, near Qala’t Al Bahrain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and amid our celebration of “ Our year of Archaeology 2017”, which reflects our deeply-rooted history. H.E added that Bahrain has always been a place of happiness and joy with all its monuments, museums, historical houses and archaeological sites, welcoming its visitors coming from all over the world. H.E also said “ Throughout the last eight years, we managed to keep the family cultural events at the center of our attention and programs, along with an array of art, music concerts, daily workshops supervised by highly world-wide specialists”. H.E also expressed thanks and appreciation to the Festival sponsors, embassies and private companies for their support and for “ their belief in the power of culture and its importance in a society and for helping to provide a joyful atmosphere for visitors of Bahrain during this festival”.

In addition, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities would like also to express its gratitude to the French embassy, the embassy of Thailand, the embassy of the United States, Egypt, Yemen, Palestine, Japan and Indonesia embassies for their valuable support and contribution to Bahrain Summer Festival events’ success. The press conference announced a series of amazing events planned by Bahrain Summer Festival, organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, offering locals and tourists an exciting and entertaining lineup of events, which will start from 7 July till 7 August, taking place at the Cultural Hall near the Bahrain National Museum and Nakhool tent. This year’s edition of the festival comes amid BACA’s celebration of “Our year of Archeology 2017”, honoring the unique and exceptional historical, cultural and heritage assets of the Kingdom of Bahrain dating back to thousand years.

On 7 July 2016 at 6:00 pm the annual Bahrain Summer Festival will kick off with one the most anticipated events throughout the region due to its reputation of exciting line-ups of live shows from regional and international performers which focus on multi-cultural family-friendly entertainment. Nakhool Tent, like every year, alongside arty activities and creative workshops for kids in the dedicated Nakhool City, will set a specially built tent near Qala’at al Bahrain Museum Site thus year, from 4:30pm to 9:30 pm each day from 7 July-7 August.

The festival’s music concerts and shows will be staged at the Cultural Hall near Bahrain National Museum where exciting regional and international musical and theatrical performances will mesmerize the public. On 13 July, the Cultural Hall will host the Arab Music Group Academy led by Maestro Ameer Abdul Majid to perform a selection of best songs of the eternal star, Ismahan. On 17 July, the French artist, Axel Matrood, will perform “ El Gato Nero” concert, a combination of Latino rhythm hits, modern and African historical roots with a reggae spirit. On 20 July, a concert by Yacoub Shaheen from Bethlehem who triumphed in the grand finale of Arab Idol's fourth season 2017, will be warmly welcomed by his lovers and funs present at the cultural hall. On 5 August, the Cultural Hall invites you to a piano performance titled “Homage To The Great Thai Kings”, a virtuous evening paying tribute to the great kings of Thailand.

On 28 July theatre shows will kick off with Missoula Children’s Theater “Sleeping Beauty”- to present their unique version of the beloved fairy tale Sleeping Beauty. But this time, children from Bahrain will perform the show, after a casting performing arts open call to be organized on 23 July. On 3 August, Bollywood unique dance elements will gather in Navdhara India Dance Theatre performance, a contemporary dance company based out of Mumbai, India, combining the physical methodologies of western dance and the spiritual philosophies of India and Indian original dance.

After the press conference to announce the program of Bahrain Summer Festival 2017, BACA continued its annual employees Ramadan gathering, Ghabga, event. BACA officials thanked all the staff for their wonderful efforts and had work they’ve shown during a whole year. The event focused on promoting the cultural and traditional aspects of Ramadhan, and theme of BACA’s Ghabga has always been in line with H.E Shaikha Mai’s strategic objective focusing on further strengthening an already effective corporate culture, aiming mainly on solidifying relationships among our employees. The event had also raffle for many great prizes and employees enjoyed a selection of Mohammad Bin Faris Music Group.
