H.E: We thank the private sector for investing in sustainable cultural tourism

As part of Spring of Culture 2017 events, and as part of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ (BACA) 2017 program, entitled “Our Year of Archaeology” and with support from GFH Financial Group, BACA has inaugurated a large-scale installation model of “Al-Murtahshah”, a type of necklace worn by women that is very well-known in Bahrain and the wider Gulf. The event took place on 4 March 2017 in Bab Al-Bahrain because of the close association this part of the Capital has with the industry.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) said that this model of “ Al-Murtahsha” will attract many visitors and tourists to Bab al Bahrain area, adding more charm and authentic beauty to a historic place. H.E added “ during 2017, baptized as “ Our Year of Archaeology”, “Bab al Bahrain area, where located the office of the Late HH Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al- Khalifa, may he rest in peace, Information Center, Bahrain Post Office, Heritage Cafes and “ Little India” project , will tell the story and read the history of our beloved kingdom. The area will charm the visitors and tourists differently today, through this event of Al Murtahssha installation, reflecting a genuine traditional gold and jewelry industry, known to have flourished in Manama for decades”.

H.E Thanked the private sector for investing in culture, making it a perfect tool to develop a sustainable cultural tourism with positive economic returns and gains that benefit the local community. H.E expressed special thanks to G.F.H financial group for its generous support to al-Murtahsha installation event in Manama entrance, voicing her commitment to make Bahrain a cultural beehive. H.E added  that with the support and sponsorship of GF,  Manama has turned into a permanent cultural capital that serves as a bridge between Bahrain and the Gulf, as well as between Bahrain and the Arab world and the West. Indeed, GFH financial group has always contributed to the development of the cultural infrastructure in Bahrain given its economic and social impacts.
