Bahrain Participates at the Meeting of the “Standing Committee on Arab Culture” in Casa Blanca, Morocco

The Kingdom of Bahrain has taken part in the first meeting of the “Standing Committee on Arab Culture “ after the 20th session of the Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, held in Tunis Last year. The meeting was held in Casablanca, Morocco, on November 30, 2017 and Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities was represented by Mr. Hani Jamal, Director of the National Theater. 

Indeed, at the invitation of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), the Ministry of Culture and Communication in the Kingdom of Morocco hosted this meeting, which was convened as part of preparations for the 21st session to be hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt in November 2018. The participants discussed the implementations of the 20th sessions’ decisions adopted by ALECSO.

In addition to ALECSO’s representatives, the meeting was attended by representatives from Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, Morocco and Mauritania.

The Committee adopted the meeting agenda which includes the following items: Cultural conditions in the Arab World, Status of implementation of the decisions of the 20th Arab Culture Ministers Conference, Arab Culture Capitals and Cultural Affairs, Arab Creative Cultural Award, Arab Poetry Day, Cultural Heritage and other issues

This meeting was also marked by the development of important recommendations concerning Arab culture, the protection and rehabilitation of Arab cultural heritage, and the consolidation of cultural projects.
In parallel to this, “The Arab Forum for the Elaboration of the Cultural Action”, organized under the auspices of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), held its meetings on 28-30 November 2017 in Casa Blanca also. The meeting was held under the patronage of HM King Mohammad VI, in cooperation and partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Communication in the Kingdom of Morocco
Worth to mention that the standing committee on Arab culture is an organizational body authorized by Ministers of Culture of the Arabic speaking region to prepare documents for ministerial conferences and coordinate the work of the Culture Directorate of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).
