On the side-lines of the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee session, participants and delegates ended their field visits to heritage and archaeological sites yesterday, 30 June 2018, at Al-Khamis Mosque Site and its Visitor Center, showcasing a selection of artefacts documenting its ancient history.
Al-Khamis Mosque is a unique Islamic historical site, consisting of a mosque, Visitor center, school and a cemetery. The site’s visitor center, showcasing rare Islamic and historical artifacts at Bilad Al-Qadeeem site mosque, was designed by the internationally renowned Danish museum designer and architect, Claus Wohlert. It was inaugurated under the high patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier by H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) in 2017.
Worth to mention that the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee session, hosted and chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain, is being held in Manama from 24-June-4 July
