Bahrain Culture Authority Takes Part in the 37th Edition of Sharjah International Book Fair

Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities has reiterated Kingdom’s keenness to support and encourage activities that serve the interests of society and contribute to Bahrain’s position as a leading cultural destination in the region and the world. Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is taking, thus, part in the most renowned 37th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF). Japan has been announced as this year’s guest of honour at Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), which will run from October 31 to November 10 2018 at Expo Centre Sharjah.

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), is offering a unique selection aligning with their goal of introducing Arab readers and intellectuals to the Far East’s culture. Indeed, SIBF is a cultural incubator that brings together nations from around the world and focuses on their cultural achievements, and develop a collective memory, the core of which is creativity and knowledge for all nations

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, inaugurated the 37th edition of the Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) on 31 October 20418. The inauguration was also attended by a number of Sheikhs, ministers, dignitaries as well as a large number of publishers, intellectuals, and media representatives.

This edition features more than 20 million books from 1.6 million titles, 80,000 of which are new titles, and 1,874 publishing houses from 77 countries. There will be 1,800 events and it will feature 472 guests from around the world with 200 book signing ceremonies for authors from 19 countries.
