During a Press Conference, The Federation of Theater Societies in the Kingdom of Bahrain is Now a Registered Association & Launch of Bahrain’s First Theater Festival

Bahrain National Museum hosted on 4 November 2018, a press conference during which the Federation of Theater Societies in the Kingdom of Bahrain was made public and recorded as a legal society. The press conference also announced the kickoff of Bahrain First Theater Festival. H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director-General of Culture & Arts, at the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, Mr. Ismail Abdullah Al Amine, Secretary General of the Arab Theatre Authority, Sharjah, UAE, and Mr. Yaqoob Youssef, President of the Federation of Theater Societies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and representatives of Bahraini theater societies.

Worth to mention that H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has launched an initiative to establish a theatrical festival in every Arab country under the management of the Arab Theatre Authority in order to promote theatrical creativity and performance. Therefore, Bahrain First Theater Festival will part of this initiative and will be held next April.

H.E Shaikha Hala expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Arab Theatre Authority delegation for its important role in the development of culture events in the region, arguing that the Kingdom of Bahrain is heralding a new creative challenging theater scene. H.E pointed out that the Federation of Theater Societies in the Kingdom of Bahrain’s umbrella will cover all lovers and professionals of theater and culture in Bahrain.

Mr. Ismail Abdullah Al Amine, said that the Kingdom of Bahrain continues its pace towards enhancing the culture hub center position in the region, adding that the Arab Theatre Authority’s initiative was launched during the closing ceremony of the 28th edition of the Sharjah Theatre Days last year. Al Amine also said that Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities responded positively to this initiative and H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa welcomed and supported it. Mr. Al-Amine added that the initiative helped and supported the organization of many festivals, which were held in countries such as Palestine, Mauritania, Morocco, and will certainly do the same for Sudan, Lebanon and Yemen.

Mr. Yaqoob Youssef, President of the Federation of Theater Societies in the Kingdom of Bahrain affirmed her pride in the joint work between the local and Gulf sectors responsible for improving the level of theater mobility. He praised the strategy of the Arab Theater Authority aimed at raising the level of performance culture and performance, vowing his will to develop the theatrical scene working in cooperation with regional and international theater unions and associations. Mr. Yaqoob Youssef also said that the new theater entity will try to best represent Bahrain inside and abroad, transferring the expertise and know-how to future generations. The federation will not neglect to give a comprehensive vision with regard to social and cultural development programmes, festivals and theater performances, as well as the formation of delegation to present and perform in major theater events in the region and around the world.
