Under the under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, H.E Shaikha Mai Participates in 21st edition of the Arab Culture Ministries Conference

 H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is taking part in the 21st Session of the Conference of Ministers for Cultural Affairs in the Arab World, held in Egypt, on October 14 and 15. The conference is held under the auspices of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, in cooperation with the Arab League Educational Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO).This year the conference will shed light on “The Arab Cultural Project in the face of Current Challenges”.

 H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa attended the opening ceremony on 14 October 2018, held under the chairmanship of Egyptian Minister of Culture, Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, the President of the 21st ession of the Conference of Ministers for Cultural Affairs in the Arab World on behalf of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi. Speeches were made during the opening ceremony by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, H.E. Dr. Saud Hilal Al-Harbi, Director-General of ALECSO and H.E. Dr. Mohamed Zine El Abidine, Tunisian Minister of Culture, the Chairman of the 20th Session of Conference of Ministers for Cultural Affairs in the Arab World. The latter passed on his « Capital of Arab Culture » torch to H.E Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Egyptian Minister of Culture, during the ceremony.

The meeting will discuss culture affairs in the Arab world and the recommendations of the Standing Committee for Arab Culture during its meeting in November 2017, in Casablanca, Morocco. In addition, the two-day event will discuss a number of issues, including current challenges Arab culture faces today, the role of establishing an Arab identity, means and mechanism toward the region’s cultural production, and to promote dialogue and communication with the world. It also aims to promote belonging, loyalty and pride in itself, and to create bridges to gather the tributaries of Arab culture in a clear national context.
