The Bahrain Authority for Culture &Antiquities announced, on March 8, 2020, the Audience Choice Winner part of the 46th Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition, claimed by Ebrahim Khalifa for his artwork “Joy of my Eyes”. The ceremony, held at the Bahrain National Theatre, was attended by the Ms. Farah Mattar, Director of Culture and Arts at the Authority, and key media personnel and BACA employees.

Speaking for the occasion, H.E Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Director-General of Culture & Arts at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and & Antiquities said “ We are very keen to involve the audience and the public in the cultural and artistic movement modelling. This is the successive second time that the Bahraini public had their say in selecting the best artwork exhibited during the Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition. This clearly reflects the increasing interest in fine arts in Bahrain and the fruitful efforts deployed by Bahrain Culture Authority to hold exceptional art events that meet Bahraini, residents and visitors’ aspirations, especially the annual Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition”.

The Audience Choice Winner Award was launched by Bahrain Culture Authority to share with the public in Bahrain the selection of the best cultural and artistic manifestations and enhance the audience’s involvement in its general policies through a virtual digital vote background database at one of the exhibition’s corner. Artist Ebrahim Khalifa expressed his happiness and sincere appreciation for the bestowed award, asserting that the audience’s choice was like token of pride taken, an inestimable recognition by the public of his wonderful successful artworks that carry a symbolic message. In addition, artist Ebrahim Khalifa said that he felt a huge affection and appreciation of his art pieces when he positively interacted with the visitors and attendants of the show. Mr. Ebrahim Khalifa went on to add that he has always been keen to participate in Bahrain Fine Arts Exhibition, held every year under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, May God Protect Him, asserting that His Highness’s patronage has contributed hugely to the increasing richness and fame of this annual show, making it one of the best art shows in Bahrain and the whole region.  

 The 46th Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, which will continue until 15 March 2020, is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) with 68 artists taking in the event this year. Bahraini and resident artists display their works belonging to different artistic schools and trends and varying between sculpture, photography, graphic arts and drawing using different materials and shapes, in addition to video works. Pioneers of the Bahraini art movement and the Al-Riwaq Art Space, as well as those from the Contemporary Art Platform (CAP) from Kuwait are also participating in the exhibition.

 Worth to mention that Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition is held every year under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, May God Protect Him, since 1972. Considered as the first, biggest and longest-running platform for Bahraini artists to showcase and exhibit the outcome of their creative minds over generations, the Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition celebrates the creativity and ingenuity of the artists in the Kingdom of Bahrain, gathering every year, pioneers of the fine art community to present their finest work, uninhibited by a subject or theme. The result is a colorful display of styles and techniques through different mediums of expression that shape and form an essential part of the local cultural effervescent movement.
