The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, celebrated last  September, World Tourism Day by launching the "Made in Bahrain" project,  a new  initiative by the that aims to re-portray the visual and functional identity of handicrafts and traditional industries so that it becomes an extended civilized expression that reflects the cultural identity of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Therefore, and as part of this strategy, the "Made in Bahrain" shop at Al Jasra Crafts Centre, will, for a period of ten days, starting on Sunday the 11th of April 2021,  display a unique collection of sculptures entitled “Awan Al Awani" by Bahraini artists Wahab Taqi and Taiba AlFaraj. Indeed, the creative and talented artists have succeeded to transform Bahraini wood logs into artistic products stamped at the bottom with the name of the tree used in the work, which can be used as food kitchenware.

In order to come up with an amazing wooden sculptures, the two artists relied  on reusing Bahraini-grown tree wood, such as almonds, Indian tamarind, sour tamarind and others, to transform them from branches or abandoned trees into works of art that can be used effectively.  Artists Taqi and Al-Faraj, intentionally, restrained themselves from cutting any tree branches or parts, but rather use the assembled cut wood pieces in a creative artistic way, indicating at the bottom of every artwork the type of wood tree used to produce it, so that its owner can preserve a piece of the Bahraini environment.

Worth to mention that the "Made in Bahrain" shop located at Al Jasra Crafts Centre is open to visitors daily from 9am - 1pm, and 4 - 7pm. Taqi and Al-Faraj impressive collection of wood artworks are available at accessible prices.
