The Young Artisan - Cloth Houses Workshop

Workshop Overview:

As part of “The Young Artisan” program, Al Jasra Handicrafts Centre is organising a “Cloth Houses” workshop, where participants learn about the art of designing traditional Bahraini houses in a beautiful, handcrafted style on practical cloth bags. The workshop combines modern art and traditional heritage, turning the bag into a piece of art that carries the identity of Bahrain and details of its old houses.

Workshop Topics:

• An overview of traditional Bahraini houses and their connection to heritage.
• Introduction to tools and materials (fabrics, fasteners).
• Steps for drawing and cutting out a traditional house on fabric.
• Techniques for fastening with craft glue.
• Fixing the work and turning it into a practical piece of art that can be used daily.

Workshop Outcomes:

• A canvas bag featuring a traditional house designed by the participant.
• Integrating art into daily life through a practical and aesthetic product.
• Strengthening the sense of belonging to Bahraini identity and reviving details of traditional architecture.
