International Day of Islamic Art Program
On the International Day of Islamic Art, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities celebrates the splendour of this art form, which throughout history has embodied the harmony of beauty and spirit, imagination and geometry, offering the world a timeless heritage that transcends borders and time.
Through a rich program of tours and workshops, the Authority invites all age groups to explore the diversity of Islamic arts — from calligraphy, ornamentation, and architecture to mosaic, astronomy, and visual arts.
This celebration goes beyond showcasing the aesthetics of Islamic art; it also highlights the depth of Islamic civilisation and its remarkable contributions to humanity, fostering dialogue and understanding among cultures and peoples.
The International Day of Islamic Art is marked every year on 18 November, as proclaimed by UNESCO following an initiative by the Kingdom of Bahrain, in recognition of the significance of this art and its vital role in preserving and sharing cultural heritage with the world.
