Klazz Brothers in The 2nd Night the Bahrain International Music Festival
Classic music meets Cuban flavor in this exceptional melting pot of music. The five musicians who comprise the Klazz Brothers & Cuban Percussion combine their unique talents to produce a one-of-a-kind sound that blends elements of jazz, swing, classical, salsa, and Latin rhythms.
The Klazz Brothers and Cuba Percussion performed their Grammy-nominated signature style at the Cultural Hall in the second show of the 22nd Bahrain International Music Festival which runs until Friday. The quintet of virtuoso musicians is made up of Bruno Böhmer Camacho from Colombia on piano, Kilian Forster from Germany on bass, Tim Hahn from Germany on drums, Alexis Herrera Estevez from Cuba on timbales and bongos and Elio. Rodriguez Luis from Cuba on congas. The second night, on October 21, features the one-of-a-kind sounds of the Klazz Brothers and Cuba Percussion, combining classical European traditions with contrasting genres such as swing, jazz, salsa and Cuban beats.
The performances with Cuba Percussion reveal Klazz Brother’s particular preference of latin sounds within their virtuoso transformation of the different musical genres. Thus, the quintet has created a mould-breaking musical world, comprising of a unique collaboration of classic European music, elements of swing and latin jazz, along with the virtually infinite variety of Cuban rhythms. Behind the distinctive as well as dynamic sound of Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion, one can notice artistic sophistication and great compositional care. These components allow innovative and fascinating pieces with free space for improvising.
The success story of Klazz Brothers & Cuba Percussion comes along with a variety of highly acclaimed programmes.“Classic meets Cuba”, “Opera meets Cuba” and “Best of Classic meets Cuba”, are programs from which all titles imply the encounter of West European tradition with Cuban music. In addition to that, the orchestral project “Symphonic Salsa” presents a unique enhancement to acoustic colours on a symphonic dimension. Since 2004, the quintet toured foreign countries at increasing frequency, amongst them Asia, European countries and the Middle East, which testifies to the ensemble’s high-ranking status within the international music market
The Ministry of Culture celebrates every year, in the first week of October, World Music Day, also known as Fête de la Musique since 1981. The origin of the idea started in in France in 1982 by French Minister of Culture Jack Lang, who served under the President François Mitterrand and conceived the idea in 1981. Since then the day has been celebrated every year as the World Music Day. Music Day soon became an exportable concept and institution, and in 1985 it travelled beyond France with the same aim and parameters, after being adopted by UNESCO to spread peace, love, friendship and cooperation between people through music.
The Ministry of Culture in Bahrain ( previously of Information at that time), re-iterated UNESCO and World Music Council calls in 1991 to celebrate World Music Day annually, through a rich festive programme initiated by the Directorate of Culture and Arts, at the Culture & Heritage Sector. Bahrain’s Ministry of Culture encourages the spread of music principles of peace, friendship and sharing by organizing concerts, creative art forms across the country.
