Minister of Culture receives Russian Ambassador

As part of H.E efforts to encourage mutual cultural and intellectual relationships, Bahrain’s Culture Minister, Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, received Wednesday, 22nd October 2014 the Russian Ambassador Victor Smirnov to discuss many common cultural topics of cooperation between Russia and Bahrain.

H.E the Minister of Culture stressed the importance of strong mutual relations between Bahrain and Russia, praising the last state visit by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which opened new doors and widened horizons in many fields, including culture and tourism. The Minister of Culture also said a series of agreements and MOUs have been signed during this royal visit to Russia, which would enhance dialogue between civilizations and share human heritage with all peoples. Gulf Air direct flights to Moscow will certainly help to attract more Russian tourists to visit Bahrain and discover its magic wonders.

The Russian ambassador hailed the efforts deployed by the Ministry of Culture to open new horizons with Russia, especially during annual and national festivals and events which bridge the gap between countries and cultures. The Russian Ambassador also congratulated H.E Shaikha Mai on the success of Tchaikovsky’s two theatre performances of the “Nutcracker”. It is one of the leading ballet and opera companies in the world. The Russian artistic vision has hit new heights on Bahrain’s National Theatre stage.
