Sesame Street Bids Farewell to Bahrain Summer Fans

Held under the slogan ‘Our Year of Heritage’, this year’s festival is filled with a variety of artistic activities and creative workshops. The seventh edition of Bahrain Summer Festival, the country’s most anticipated festival, has shown numerous colors of the rainbow ranging from local, regional, and international musical performances, theatrical plays, art exhibitions, and so much more.

After five days of joy and entertainment and in spite of the soaring summer heat, the spirit of Sesame Street Live has gripped the interest of children and adults with its numerous shows and activities. The show ended its last appearance on stage at the Cultural Hall on Monday, 24 August 2015 in the presence of an excited and happy audience.

Sesame Street Live, the live touring show based on children’s television show Sesame Street, has come to Bahrain as part of Bahrain Summer Festival, to introduce the islanders to Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their Sesame Street friends. The public enjoyed watching monsters create music which the whole family can enjoy. It’s a family friendly musical where anything and everything, from pots and spoons to trash can lids, were used as instruments to produce music.

All-time favorites Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird and all their Sesame Street friends were here this season to teach us to create music from the simple things in life and learn to enjoy them together. Hosted by two live performers, Sesame Street Live ‘Let’s Dance!’ offered an up-close, interactive experience like you’ve never experienced before! Throughout the show everyone’s favorite fun, furry and feathered friends taught children to create and enjoy beautiful music together.

Produced by Minneapolis-based VEE Corporation, the show opened on 17 September, 1980, with a production of Sesame Street Live ‘Missing Bird Mystery’ playing at the Met Center in Bloomington, Minnesota. The shows featured original music scores and songs, complemented with old favorites from the show, and professional dancers as costumed characters performing the parts of the Muppets.

This year Bahrain Summer Festival, which will run until 31st August 2015, is held under the slogan of ‘Our Year of Heritage’, where the summer extravaganza took place at the Nakhool Garden near Sitra Mall with your friendly festival mascots Nakhool and Nakhoola. Bahrain’s public will never forget the mesmerizing music shows at the Cultural Hall, such as the performance by French musician, composer and improviser extraordinaire Thierry ‘Titi’ Robin and the upcoming innovative Japanese street dance troupe Wrecking Crew Orchestra.
