As part of the Bahrain Summer Festival, which is organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the Cultural Hall amazed the audience with a mesmerizing concert ‘Moonlight’ by famed French musician, composer, and improviser Titi Robin in collaboration with the very talented young Moroccan Mehdi Nassouli (voice and guembri) on 24 August 2015.
Outstanding composer and improviser (guitar, oud, bouzouqi), Titi Robin captivated the audience with a combination of multiple music colors and succeeded, together with accompanying artists, to capture hearts and minds at the Cultural Hall. They managed to blow a wind of modernity and create dialogue between their original cultures and the world music that inspires them.
Widely credited as a forerunner to the rise of the popular genre that became known as “world music”, Thierry ‘Titi’ Robin made his mark in the music world with his signature and highly personal style, known as Mediterranean music, from the confluence of Gypsy, Oriental and European cultures. Since the early 1980s, this self-taught musical pioneer has continued to artfully weave these seemingly incompatible musical genres into brilliant and unique masterpieces.
This year the Bahrain Summer Festival, which will run until 31st August 2015, is held under the slogan of ‘Our Year of Heritage’, where the summer extravaganza takes place at the Nakhool Garden near Sitra Mall with your friendly festival mascots Nakhool and Nakhoola and other mesmerizing music shows being held at the Cultural Hall.
