Expo Milano 2015 will be the first exposition in history to be remembered not only for its products but also for its contribution towards education on food and the planet’s precious resources.

Bahrain International Garden Show will showcase a model of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015 ‘Archaeologies of Green’, which was designed by the Dutch architect Anne Holtrop.

The Kingdom of Bahrain’s pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015 presents an interpretation of the relationships that tie together the country’s agrarian heritage and culture. The centerpiece of the pavilion pays homage to this rich heritage, which consists of 10 distinct fruit gardens, each of which will bear their fruit at different times during the six-month long Expo.

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain and the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the king of Bahrain, President of the Consultative Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) will be held from February 25 - March 01, 2015 at the Bahrain International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, ‘Archaeologies of Green’ is conceived as a continuous landscape of fruit gardens that each contain a dominant fruit tree that is native to Bahrain and are intersected by a series of closed spaces that contain a reception area, exhibition spaces, and a café serving local Bahraini food. The spaces all overlook and frame the gardens, which form the main exhibition component of the pavilion and recount the rich agrarian heritage of the Islands.

Themed ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’ the Expo Milan 2015 opens on 1st May 2015 and is expected to welcome over 20 million visitors with 147 official participants including Bahrain. Expo Milano 2015 revolves around nutrition and sustainability, highlighting the importance of protecting the planet’s natural resources. The various national pavilions shed light on the diverse cultural characters of countries around the world, allowing visitors to sample traditional foods and learn more about the cultural attributes and agrarian heritages of different nations.
