H.E Receives French Cultural Cooperation Counselor
H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, received on 8 November 2015 French Counselor for Cultural Cooperation to Bahrain Dominique Chastres. They discussed ways of boosting bilateral cooperation in the cultural field.
The meeting discussed the implementation of bilateral cultural conventions and Memos signed after the official visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to France last September. The cooperation between both countries included bilateral art and music events with regard to Bahrain Natural Theater, BACA festivals and various activities to exchange knowledge of cultural manifestations and the promotion of Bahraini arts through the facilitation of hosting and inviting artists in both countries.
The French cultural cooperation counselor briefed H.E on the efforts deployed by the French embassy regarding the support and encouragement towards Bahraini artists’, and especially to Bahraini movies showcased for cinema lovers. Mr. Dominique Chastres expressed his thanks and appreciation to Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities for this longstanding cultural cooperation and they both underscored the crucial importance of holding exhibitions and cultural events in building bridges between countries and peoples of the world.
French culture has always been present during major events and cultural festivals organized by the Culture & Archaeology Authority in Bahrain, such as the recent lecture presented by Hana Shediaq from Quai Branly museum Paris on Hijab, as well as the music concert and conversation between enduring classics by two legends who never met, French singer Barbara and Lebanese diva Fairuz, stunningly rendered by renowned Tunisian singer Dorsaf Hamdani and French composer and musician Daniel Mille. French art will again be present during this year’s edition of ‘Manama Nuit Blanche’ festival, which hosts every year one music group from France to celebrate national days and events and the National Theater Anniversary.
