Bahrain National Museum Welcomes a Delegation from Arab Youth Short Films Festival Competition

Bahrain National Museum has welcomed a delegation from Arab ‘Red Carpet’ Youth Short Movies Festival that comes as part of the array of programs organized by the General Organization for Youth and Sports (Goys) in its 3rd edition. The delegation was welcomed by BACA staff and the museum employees, who toured them around the different sections of the museum, delivering them cultural tourism passports. The delegation included young representatives of Bahrain, UAE, Kuwait and Egypt.

The delegation thanked all officials for patronizing all the youth activities held as part of Manama, Capital of Arab Youth, which confirms Bahrain’s keenness to secure the appropriate environment for youth to improve their talents and build their capabilities in different sectors. Indeed, the ‘Red Carpet’ Youth Short Movies Festival comes to complement the activities presented by the kingdom of Bahrain to the Arab Youth which covered numerous artistic, social and cultural areas and witnessed great participation of Arab Youth across different sectors.

The delegation toured many exhibition museum halls and hailed Bahrain’s rich ancient heritage and civilization, expressing their admiration over the good organization of the exhibits and the way of preservation. They appreciated the historical importance of the archaeological findings exhibited at the museum halls, and was impressed by the precious stones and semi-precious metals found inside these ancient civilization’s graves. In fact, Bahrain National Museum boasts 7000 years old artifacts since the first human inhabitants set foot here.

During his visit, the ‘Red Carpet’ delegation toured the different sections of the museum, which includes three halls devoted to archaeology and the ancient civilization of Dilmun, while two other halls depict Bahrain's culture, lifestyle and handicrafts. Burial Halls reflect what many archaeologists have unearthed including; pieces of pottery and occasionally shell or stone stamp seals, baskets sealed with asphalt, ivory objects, stone jars, and copper weapons inside these burial mounds’ graves.

In addition to the archaeological exhibits, the delegation visited the Hall of Customs and Traditions and the Hall of Trades and Crafts, where life-size models of people are displayed in realistic settings, showing how life in Bahrain was lived in pre-oil, pre-air-conditioning times.

The delegation was briefed about the Cultural Tourism Passport, launched in October 2015, and how it is an invitation for citizens and visitors to have a taste of Bahrain's long-standing heritage and visit 21 cultural and tourism milestones. Members of the ‘Red Carpet’ got their passports sealed and are requested to return their passports to the Bahrain National Museum after sealing all the pages which feature the chosen cultural and tourism sites so as to enter the draw on a trip abroad in December.
