H.E Shaikha Mai Receives International Women Committee Delegation, Role of Culture and Bridging the Gap Between Peoples Highlighted

H.E Shaikh Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), received at the Bahrain National Museum on 22 November 2015 a delegation from the Women's Campaign International Committee from Kuwait. The group is currently on a visit to the kingdom to discover, explore, and collect first-hand information about Bahrain's rich heritage, as well as Bahraini women's activities in various fields.

H.E Shaikha Mai expressed delight at the delegation’s visit to the Bahrain National Museum, stressing that Bahrain boasts a unique historical human heritage and history in the region, pointing out that culture is a means to extend bridges between civilizations.
H.E added that Bahrain welcomes all of its visitors and is keen to ensure that they enjoy the best cultural and human experiences Bahrain has to offer.

Members of the delegation lauded the kingdom's human heritage and modern civilizational projects, noting that their visit to the Bahrain National Museum enabled them to learn a lot about Bahrain's rich history and culture.

The delegation also visited Qalat Bu-Maher's Fort Information Centre through a sea journey from the Bahrain National Museum to the Fort's beach in Muharraq. The delegation viewed the miniature model of the Pearling Route project and was informed about its houses, as well as architectural and cultural features. Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is trying to complete the project by 2018 when Muharraq will be celebrated as capital of Islamic Culture.

The delegation also visited the National Theatre which was inaugurated and sponsored by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, the pioneering sponsor of culture in the kingdom. The delegation praised efforts made to make this dream true and transform the region’s cultural scene by hosting worldwide events, ballets, orchestras and contributes to close ties between peoples and cultures around the globe.
