H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Bahrain University Delegation

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), received a student delegation from Bahrain University led by Dr. Osama Al-Jowder on 25 November 2015. During the meeting, H.E stressed Bahrain's great reliance on youth in bringing about many achievements. Bahrain’s cultural scene is dynamic, diverse and depends on young talent and the cooperation between Bahrain University and the Culture Authority. This was illustrated recently by the mutual promotion project which created the e-cultural tourism passport.

H.E also added that Bahraini youth have always been present in various cultural functions including the ‘Ta’a Al Shabab’ festival. The BACA president said that the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) seeks to protect, enrich, and modernize the national identity, as well as fostering national loyalty and affiliation. The Authority will put together a medium-term plan which utilizes audio and visual media to promote national awareness with regards to cultural identity and modern culture, entrench positive traditional values, establish citizenship values as a catalyst to develop the present and foresee the future, shape the ideological and social standing of individuals and groups, and instill national loyalty and patriotism through programs which focus on social development, education, dialogue, and media. In recognition of their fresh ideas and boundless ambition, the youth of Bahrain will play a central role in proposing and implementing cultural and arts programs that contribute to the advancement of innovation and modernization of the national cultural identity.

The meeting also discussed many future cultural projects initiated and implemented by young students, such as the ‘Little India Project’, which will be inaugurated during National Day celebrations as part of 12 themes next December.

On his part, Dr. Al-Jowder thanked Shaikha Mai for her unrelenting efforts to protect the kingdom's cultural heritage, voicing the Students Council's constant readiness to enrich the cultural momentum in Bahrain.
