Bahrain Culture & Archaeology Authority held a festive event on 28 November 2015 at Salman Al-Fateh Fort in recognition and to thank all the volunteers who have contributed to the success of Bahrain’s pavilion ‘Green Archaeologies’ at Milan Expo 2015. The event was organized at Zaafran Café at the fort in the presence of H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Culture & Archaeology Authority.
This festive event is recognition and thanks addressed towards those who participated in the success of Bahrain’s international presence in Milan Expo, which yielded amazing results. Indeed, Bahrain's pavilion received the silver prize of the Expo Milano 2015 Pavilion Architecture Award while gold prize went to France and bronze to China. H.E also thanked Bahrain’s Police Band, led by Commander Major-General Mubarak Najem, Italy, and the Authority’s staff and employees.
Speaking for the occasion, H.E Shaikha Mai said, “Today, we are united through culture to rediscover the historical achievement made by Bahrain’s Milan Expo pavilion 2015, ‘Green Archaeologies’. We thank all those who helped us to reach to the world and bridge gaps between cultures and civilizations.” H.E added, “The ‘Green Archaeologies’ pavilion introduced Bahrain to the world and made visitors eager to discover our country thanks to the amazing work carried out by groups of volunteers, who proved to be the best ambassadors of Bahrain.”
The Mohammad Bin Faris Music Band performed a selection of Bahrain’s sweetest music in the courtyard of Salman Al-Fateh Fort, overlooking Al-Haniniya wadi (valley) near Zaafran café. Music and heritage were united in this evening of music at the Fort.
Expo Milano 2015, themed ‘Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life’, ended on 31 October 2015. Open from May 1 to October 31 with 184 days of events, the Expo 2015 hosted over 140 participants (144 countries and 3 international organizations) in an area covering one million square meters to accommodate over 20 million visitors. The pavilion will be assembled in Muharraq, the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2018 to form a beautiful garden near ‘Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy’, the 2nd UNESCO World Heritage site.
