Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, president of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), received the ambassador of the United States to the kingdom of Bahrain, William Roebuck, and explored bilateral cooperation and means of boosting cultural cooperation.
The meeting comes in the wake of World Monuments Fund (WMF) Watch Award, celebrating its 50th anniversary, during which it will honor Her Majesty Queen Sofía and Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa of Bahrain at the twenty-eighth annual Hadrian Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. The New York-based World Monuments Fund (WMF) has chosen Shaikha Mai as winner of the 2015 award edition and she has become the first Arab personality to win the Watch Award.
The American ambassador was informed about the latest cultural activities in the kingdom ahead of the Bahrain International Music Festival on October 8-19 in addition to the promotion of cultural sites in Bahrain through the launching of Bahrain's Tourism E-Passport.
H.E William Roebuck expressed his desire to consolidate the cultural ties between the two countries and to host joint cultural activities that enrich the ongoing cultural activities in the kingdom.
