H.E. Shaikha Mai bint Mohamed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA)'s president, held a meeting with Dr. Essam Abdullah Khalaf, minister of Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning on 5 October 2015, and explored with him cooperation between the two governmental institutions.
H.E. Shaikha Mai expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the minister of Works, stressing the importance of mustering collective efforts in the kingdom towards boosting Bahrain’s national identity through various projects. H.E commended the Ministry of Works’s (MoW) efforts in rejuvenating the country's infrastructure which was facilitated with the accomplishment of several cultural and tourism projects. Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in preserving Bahrain's glorious architectural heritage and the need for concerted efforts in promoting the national identity through various projects.
The meeting also discussed future projects, including the capital city streets beautification, current planned development of Bab Al-Bahrain, in addition to the mini India project. H.E pointed out that Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities is keen to enhance Manama’s cultural infrastructure through pioneering projects such as the Post Office Museum, development of Bahrain Hotel, in addition to projects that will revive the memory of a sweet past in Manama. ‘Little India’ and rehabilitation of popular coffee shops are also among its priorities. The latest cooperation between BACA and MoW was the project of lighting the causeway leading to Bahrain Bay.
