Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) president, continues her strenuous efforts to coordinate with all entities to promote the cultural scene in Bahrain. Shaikha Mai received the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources, Sheikh Khalifa bin Isa Al-Khalifa, on 11 October 2015 and discussed Bahrain’s present participation at Milan Expo 2015. The meeting discussed the greatest achievements that have been made in Bahrain thus far and ways to boost cooperation between the Authority and Agriculture & Marine Resources Authority.
She stressed the importance of taking part in global events while pointing out Bahrain’s landmark pavilion themed ‘Archaeologies of Green’, which highlights the kingdom’s agrarian heritage and culture. H.E. added that the pavilion of the kingdom of Bahrain at the Milan Expo 2015, which is a poetic interpretation of the cultural agrarian heritage of the country, has attracted the attention of many visitors. H.E. also announced that the pavilion, which promotes the concept of sustainable development, would be assembled in Bahrain once Milan Expo 2015 finished in order to showcase Bahrain’s national cultural identity and deep-rooted heritage.
H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Isa Al-Khalifa, for his part, commended Bahrain's cultural activities and expressed his admiration for the cultural and tourist infrastructure in the kingdom of Bahrain. H.E. highlighted the importance of culture in preserving national heritage while asserting that Bahrain is playing an outstanding role in highlighting the region's authentic culture through multiple activities and festivals. H.E. also pointed out that Bahrain has become a major destination for Gulf and Arab tourists.
