Bahrain Participates in the Frankfurt Book Fair

 Keeping up with the tradition of representing the kingdom of Bahrain in international cultural events, the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Archaeology has participated in the 67th edition of the Frankfurt Book Fair, which opened its doors on October 14-18 in Frankfurt. This year’s edition gathers contributions from 100 Arab and foreign countries. 


Celebrating ‘Our Year of Heritage’, the BACA delegation is showcasing local artistic, literary and historical publications and is keen on cultural exchanges with the participating countries. Frankfurter Buchmesse is the largest fair of publishers of books and periodicals in the world. It is a place where those who publish can meet those who distribute and those who read. Here you can get acquainted with new editions and new technologies, meet the leading players in the book publishing market, and the representatives of the largest libraries in the world On the sidelines of 67th edition of Frankfurt book Fair, many cultural and literary workshops and debate sessions are being held with the participation of leading writers and lecturers from around the world.

Announcing a rich program to mark Bahrain's participation in the Frankfurt Book Fair 2014, including fine arts and photo exhibitions, the Bahrain stand also includes an historical show of plastic Arts in Bahrain, and it is all part of ‘Our Year of Heritage’ program, whereby Bahraini artists specialized in oil paintings, murals and sculpture are presented. Also, writers will accommodate and welcome refugees through culture.

The Bahrain Authority for Culture & Archaeology pavilion presented a reading corner for refugees in Germany with books in Arabic. Mainly books that anchor the culture of hospitability and help for those forced by armed conflicts to flee their countries and seek refuge in Germany are made available. “Welcome” book titles are offered to refugees by civil society organizations.

Guests and participants of the Frankfurter Buchmesse are also writers, translators, illustrators, and representatives of scientific institutions. In addition to the exhibition, seminars, round tables and concerts are organized within the framework of the Frankfurter Buchmesse contest

Indonesia is this year’s guest of honor of the Frankfurt Book Fair.
