The kingdom of Bahrain, keen to introduce cultural and literary products and manifestations, is taking part in the 11th Khartoum International Book Fair, which will run until October 29 2015. The First Vice-President Bakri Hassan Saleh has inaugurated the 11th Edition of Khartoum International Book Fair at the Khartoum International Fair in Burri. The book show will last from 17-29th of October. The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) pavilion showcases a collection of newly-released publication that enriches national and Arab libraries and promotes the kingdom’s cultural festivals.
The Vice-President visited the exhibition wings that consisted of 267 domestic and international publishing houses, including scientific, cultural, literal and religious books; in addition school, university and children books. Mr. Al-Tayeb Hassan Badawi, the minister of culture, honored the First Vice-President Saleh for gracing the event. Badawi, addressing the opening ceremony, noted that the country is seeing cultural renaissance, adding that cultural programs were launched during the cultural dialogue and Kadugli cultural project dubbed ‘Kadugli and Geneina; the capitals of Sudanese Heritage, and Sennar the capital of Islamic Heritage’ for 2017.
Meanwhile, a number of participants have expressed their satisfaction over measures taken by the Sudanese government to make the fair successful. It should be noted that Sudan is celebrating 10 years since the launch of this International Book Fair in 2005. Sudanese intellectuals and officials called for cooperation between all Arab and African cultural bodies in the better interests of their respective nations without prejudice to beliefs, gender or ethnicity. They also called for maintaining the holding of book fairs in Arab countries, adding that their hands are stretched out to the generation to come as well as whoever wants to learn from their experience.
