The Bahrain’s 24th Annual Heritage Festival organized by Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA) at Bahrain National Museum under the theme ‘Vocal Waves from Our Bahrain’ continues to celebrate with Bahrain’s beautiful cultural and musical manifestations. Since music plays an important role in Bahraini culture, many folk music groups will perform in this heritage bazar showcasing traditional and contemporary products as well as traditional Bahraini dishes. The 24th annual Heritage Festival is being held in a special tent near Bahrain National Museum until the 21st of April from 4:00-9:00 pm.
This year, the introduction to an educational program for the children’s section will enable visitors to experience and learn about Bahrain’s heritage and culture. Inventive and creative workshops will be held in a special schedule addressed to new skills learning for children, such as Decorate Your Box, from 4:30-5:30 pm and Designing a Fish Aquarium from 6:00-7:00 pm which teaches them how to decorate chests. Children will have a daily entertainment opportunity presented by Puppet Theater and activities performed by ‘Heritage Hazawi’ (folk tales). Daily activities such as face-painting, photography, jewellery-making and painting heritage drawings will also be available for children
Visitors can see craftsmen at work and they will certainly enjoy watching the creative process in a live show. Traditional handicrafts include Al-Naqda, boat–making, rug-making, sumac, cloth-weaving, writing, tile-making, ceramics and pottery, embroidery, leather manufacture, musical instrument-making, masonry, copper work, basket-making, saddle-making, felt-making, weaving, woodwork, cart-making etc. Bahrain certainly has a thriving arts and crafts scene. It is a place where you can find an abundance of artwork and handicrafts, with a blend of the traditional and the modern and a fusion of influences from near and far. Indeed, it is a balanced mixture of traditional and contemporary products at the souq surrounded by Bahraini cafes offering visitors a chance to experience the flavors of the Kingdom.
The festival also features a market inside the tent with stands showcasing Bahraini products, such as coffee, dates, perfumes, water vaccine, fabrics, accessories, traditional sweets and other modern artistic Bahraini products.
