Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities celebrated the opening of Dar Al- Muharraq project on Saturday evening April 23, 2016 as part of the 2016 Spring of Culture season.
The project, which included the renovation and expansion the existing historic Dar Jinaa in the old city of Muharraq, transformed the building into a fully-equipped training and research Centre for traditional folk music that will support and enhance the intangible heritage of Muharraq. Situated along the “Pearling, Testimony of an Island Economy” pathway, the building’s extension is comprised of a three story building enveloped with a steel mesh designed by Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen in collaboration with Emaar and Aluminum Bahrain (ALBA).
This newly renovated historic building, will become a training and research Centre for traditional folk music in Bahrain.
