H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities’ president, held on 24 August 2016 a meeting to discuss developments of areas around the project ‘Pearling; Testimony of an Island Economy’. The meeting was attended by Works, Municipalities and Urban Planning Ministry Assistant Under-secretary for Roads Huda Fakhro and Lieutenant-Colonel Adel Al Dosari from the General Directorate of Traffic. H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed her guests, lauding the constant cooperation with BACA with regard to the implementation of cultural infrastructure projects, which would facilitate Bahrain becoming a leading cultural hub regionally and internationally.
The meeting also discussed the results of a feasibility study conducted by Italian Systematica, a traffic consultancy firm, focusing on the positive impact of the planned project. A proposal to construct a four-story car park as part of the Pearl Trail in Muharraq came under the spotlight. The consequences of such a project on the traffic flow in the city of Muharraq as part of Pearl Trail project, monitoring it by the Traffic Police authorities, and the Ministry of Works supervision and its impact of the economic and commercial activities were among the issues raised during the presentation of the project by the Italian firm.
At the end of the presentation, the participants lauded the proposed project and the study conducted by Systematica firm. Representatives of Ministry of Works and Traffic Directorate voiced their readiness to cooperate with Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities with regard to the implementation of this study through the establishment of a joint supervision commission.
