H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities president, received a delegation from World Marketing Summit, on 31 August 2016, represented by Mr. Abdul Rahman Al Dossari and Dr Fahim Kibria. The meeting discussed ways and means of hosting the next annual WMS conference in Bahrain. The flagship event of the organization is the annual meeting on marketing held every year since 2012.
The World Marketing Summit (WMS) is an independent global organization, headquartered in Toronto, Canada, committed to "Creating a Better World through Marketing" and thereby alleviating poverty. WMS aims to improve the state of the world by engaging global leaders and entrepreneurs in creating a poverty-free world. WMS has a number of activities on marketing and business which includes, but not limited to, seminars, research, publications, academic courses and programs. The first summit was held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, (WMS 2012). The second summit (WMS 2013) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The third summit (WMS 2014) was held in Tokyo, Japan on September 2014. Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities has voiced its readiness to host such an important world summit given the potential historical, cultural and infrastructure available in Bahrain. The WMS conference could bring together many global experts and attract around 4,000 participants. Speakers from America, Europe, Asia and Africa representing universities, research agencies, multi-national business organizations, United Nations bodies, and financial institutions discuss pressing issues, including marketing, business and economics impacting poverty, health and the environment.
H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed the idea of hosting such an important conference, confirming BACA’s readiness to deploy strenuous efforts to host a successful annual WMS event. H.E added that Bahrain’s success in hosting such a conference would strengthen its position as a strategic world destination, a country proud to offer its visitors an amazing 5000 years-old civilization and an array of cultural events and activities. Indeed, following closely in the footsteps of Dubai and Hong Kong, Bahrain offers an investor-friendly environment to attract business from all over the world. It has increasingly become a compelling destination for foreign direct investment, as well as an ideal lifestyle location for professional families living and working in and around the Gulf.
The delegation members have, for their parts, expressed their confidence in Bahrain’s capacity to host such an event, adding that WMS is strongly considering Bahrain as a possible host country for the 2017 World Marketing Summit. Members of the delegation hailed Bahrain’s cultural assets and BACA’s achievements and international competition prizes which have been awarded to the Authority for its exceptional cultural work. WMS delegation members expressed their hope that the final vote to host the next WMS will go Bahrain.
