H.E Shaikha Mai Receives the German Ambassador, Bahrain Historical Heritage Promotion Discussed

H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, president of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities (BACA), received, on 8 February 2016, the German Ambassador to Bahrain H.E Alfred Simms-Protz and discussed joint cooperation.

H.E Shaikha Mai praised the deep-rooted bilateral relations, adding that Bahrain aspires to enrich its cultural atmosphere through a number of projects, especially that Bahrain dedicates this year to heritage under the theme ‘Bahrain Your Destination 2016”. H.E highlighted strong bilateral relations binding the two countries, stressing Bahrain's keenness on creating a bridge between peoples and civilizations. H.E underscored the role of the German embassy in the Bahraini cultural scene, which, increased the cultural exchange opportunities, pointing out that the cultural cooperation between BACA and the embassy of Germany promoted the rapprochement between the people of the two countries.

During the meeting, BACA’s president announced that a group of BACA staff would travel to Germany to be trained with the latest cultural and tourism guidelines and, as part of a program supported by the German Embassy in Bahrain. BACA and the embassy are also coordinating to add the German language to the list of languages being used to present Bahrain's cultural monuments.

The German ambassador, for his part, commended Bahrain's cultural achievements, asserting that cultural and intellectual investments established an infrastructure for different cultural initiatives. H.E Alfred Simms-Protz expressed thanks and appreciation to H.E Shaikha Mai for the joint cooperation over the past years, stressing the importance of the deeply-rooted bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation.

Bahrain's rich culture and joint cultural projects will make Bahrain a world destination and will form a common platform for mutually beneficial relationships. Ambassador Simms-Protz presented to BACA’s president a piece of artwork by German artist Lara Daskalou whose works were showcased last November at the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH) in Manama.
