H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammad Al Khalifa, president of Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities, received architect, Zuhair bin Ali Azhar, CEO of the Saudi Education and Training Company, a Riyadh-based Distance Learning and Training (DLT) Company and Goodwill Ambassador and Head of the Council of Islamic-Chinese Relations, on 9 May 2016. The meeting discussed the best ways and means to implement common projects that promote and enhance Bahrain’s position as a leading regional and international cultural hub.
H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed Mr. Azhar arguing that BACA aims at boosting its relations with all parties, locally and regionally, in order to enrich the Bahraini cultural scene, which celebrates many themes this year under the slogan ‘Bahrain Your Destination’. H.E briefed her guest on the main cultural achievements made this year and other projects under way, such as Dar Al-Muharraq, as part of ‘Pearling: Testimony of an Island Economy’, a UNESCO World Heritage List site.
Mr. Zuhair bin Ali Azhar, for his part, lauded the cultural movement and the vibrant scene in Bahrain, praising BACA’s efforts in reflecting the bright image of Bahrain and its strategic tendency to preserve heritage and provide permanent spaces for cultural exchanges between peoples and civilizations. Mr. Azhar added that he aims to use his new post as a goodwill ambassador and Head of the Council of Islamic-Chinese Relations, to boost relations between Bahrain and China. Bahrain’s strategic location on the Silk Road can help spread the Chinese culture and inter-cultural and social communications between Arab countries and China.
