H.E Shaikha Mai Receives South Korean Delegation,Taking part the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee
H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, BACA, received, on 29 June 2018, Mr Jong Kim, the head of the South Korean delegation to the meeting of the World Heritage Committee at the UNESCO village. H.E discussed with the South Korean delegation developments of the global session, being hosted and chaired by the Kingdom of Bahrain, which started on the 24th of June and will run until the 4th of July.
H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed her guest, and lauded the efforts of the South Korean delegation to safeguard and preserve local historical sites, including the Sansa Buddhist mountain monasteries located throughout the southern provinces of the Korean Peninsula, nominated as a new registered World Heritage List site.
The South Korean delegation chairman commended the Kingdom of Bahrain’s keenness to safeguard world heritage, granting Bahrain the privilege to host and chair over the 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee.
