H.E Shaikha Mai Receives Head of Italian Delegation, Taking part the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee
On the side-lines of the 42nd meeting of the World Heritage Committee session, H.E Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, the President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, BACA, received, on 29 June 2018, the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the honourable Guglielmo Picchi, the head of the Italian delegation to the meeting of the World Heritage Committee at the UNESCO village.
H.E Shaikha Mai welcomed her guest and expressed her satisfaction with the Italian official representation this year, which led to the successful nominations of two sites on UNESCO World Heritage List, namely Ivrea, industrial city of the 20th century (Italy), and Le Colline del Prosecco di Conegliano a Valdobbiadene (Italy). Both sites deeply reflect the ancient history of the Republic of Italy.
Guglielmo Picchi, for his part, lauded Bahrain’s efforts during the WHC meeting to safeguard world heritage, praising BACA’s creative cultural programs during the sessions, which reflects the history and magic wonders of this beloved land.
