Operating Within the Legal and Regulatory frameworks, Bahrain Culture Authority Reaffirms its Support to Theater Scene

 

Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities has reaffirmed its keenness and strong wellness  to support the local cultural and theatrical scene since its inception. Indeed, Bahrain Culture Authority has succeeded during many years to establish a fruitful effective partnerships with different civil cultural partners and associations, especially those in charge of Bahrain’s Theater associations. 

In this regard, Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities would like to point out that its responsibilities towards cultural civil associations are framed according to the laws and regulations pertaining to culture and theater non-governmental associations. In accordance with   our country’s government directives and  continuous efforts and focus on rationalizing public expenditure, all government  ministries and authorities should abide by these recommendations, entailing expenses’ reduction and restraint. Therefore, Bahrain Culture Authority, has accordingly, held a meeting with the representatives of  Theater associations in Bahrain, informing them the end of the premises’ lease agreement. BACA has voiced its readiness to offer them a temporary premise until a permanent solution is found for holding meetings, rehearsals, providing that the rented properties and locals are evacuated.

Bahrain Culture Authority voiced its readiness to give theater associations a reasonable fair notice period to take the necessary steps to vacate the premises,  and hand them over to the leasing company. BACA will continue only to provide an annual amount to support the theater scene,  but  an unlimited technical and logistic support.

Therefore, Bahrain Culture Authority reiterates its strong position and support to theaters, cultural and artistic  activities organized in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in conformity with the national laws, regulations and procedures.
