The first event marking the launch of the Fourth Edition “Food Is Culture” initiative kicked off yesterday, 20 January 2019, at Bahrain National Museum, with a dual gathering artist Nabeela Al-Kayyer and Chef Herve Pronzato. H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain’s Authority for Culture & Antiquities attended the event, as well as many culture lovers and intellectuals living in Bahrain.
Speaking for the occasion, H.E Shaikha Hala Bint Mohammad Al-Khalifa, Director-General of Culture & Arts, at the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities, welcomed the participants and the audience, expressed her happiness to attend this Fourth edition of food is culture festival, which will showcase new methods and exceptional experiences in art and cooking.
The first dual showcased the fruits of their collaboration; exquisite works of arts and fantastic delicious recipes were implemented in a perfect harmonious mix, converging in a highly refined cultural and artistic artwork. It was symbolized by a sea wave carrying along delicate tasty sweets and candies taking the shape of seafood recipes.
The Fourth edition of “ Food is Culture “ initiative, held between 20-24 January 2019, will feature a group of chefs and artists, such as Artist Ali Mashhadi and Chef Salman Buhejji, Fashion Designer Reem BuQais and Chef Budoor Steele, Artist Areej Rajab and Chef Areej Matooq, and finally Musicians Ahmed AlQassim and Abdullah Haji along with Chef Junior Gomes.
Worth to mention that this is the 4th edition of “ Food is Culture “ initiative, which is a creative experimental project that aims to bridge together the mediums of art and food, bringing together creative artists and chefs to work together and come up with an exquisite and exceptional dual work of art. Every day at 7:00 pm, the team will also welcome and answer every the questions of the public and interact lively with the audience with regard to the fruits and results of this dual art partnership.
Since its inception in 2016, “Food is Culture” event has tried to shed light on creative processes that take place when two individuals (from different creative disciplines) collaborate. Artists and chefs get together and work to produce a creative product; be it a painting, installation, video, cake, drink, all or something completely different discipline. This creative experience combines two forms of art, bringing together different schools of thought and talented chefs who try to come out with unordinary work of art touching the five human senses. The chefs and formative artists will be present in a panel discussion to share their own personal and collective experiences and impressions with the audience.
This year’s edition will cover other art disciplines and categories, such as fashion designers, musicians, as well as formative conceptual artists. On 21 January the public is invited to enjoy a unique dual between artist Ali Mashhadi and Chef Salman Buhejji at Bahrain National Museum. Free admission
