The newly redeveloped “Suq Al-Qaysariyah “in the city Muharraq will be officially inaugurated and open its doors to visitors this weekend, between 20th -22nd May 2021 from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. The most amazing new commercial avenue offers its visitors a unique cultural experience that combines shopping in various stores that present traditional and modern products, while delving into the history and story of the market, which constitutes an important part of “Pearling: Testimony of an Island Economy " path site, registered on the World Heritage List of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The avenue Suq Al-Qaysariyyah market includes contemporary shops designed by Anne Holtrop studio, and they offer fantastic fashion and jewelry brands, in addition to cafes and other stores in the heart of the historical market. In fact, the market is considered to be one of the oldest areas of the Muharraq Suq, and it played a fundamental role in shaping the pearl economy in Bahrain, as it witnessed a great deal of the commercial activities related to buying and selling pearls, delivery of receiving and storing timber wood used in building fleets of pearling ships. It is noteworthy that the site "Pearling: Testimony of an Island Economy " is the second site of the Kingdom of Bahrain registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and extends from the shore of the Bu Maher Fort, south of Muharraq, to the Siyadi Majlis and Mosque in the heart of the historic city.

This most challenging Pearling Path connects many urban components that tell and explain the story of pearl fishing and trade in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and is made up of 16 historic monumental buildings and many public space squares, in addition to the main Visitor Center, which embraces in its interior design the archaeological remains of Yusuf bin Abdul Rahman Fakhro’s historic architecture, which was built in the 1930s.
