H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture & Antiquities met, on 17 November 2021, met with Her Excellency the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, Mrs. Olga Lyubimova, and its chairperson, at the Ministry’s building in Moscow. The meeting was attended also by His Excellency H.E. Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Saati, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Russian Federation, whereby both parties discussed possible ways to enhance cultural relations between the two countries.

The meeting shed lights on many common cultural themes, and touched on holding the Russian-Bahrain Cultural Forum to be held in Manama in the spring of next year, entitled “Diversity of Cultures as a Basis for Dialogue,” during which cultural and artistic figures from the two countries will meet in order to participate in the development of cultural work and dialogue in all cultural matters. The two parties also discussed the possibility of enhancing cultural exchange through visiting exhibitions and concerts that reflect the richness of both countries.

Worth to mention that the Kingdom of Bahrain has close cultural relations with the Russian Federation, which over the past years have resulted in many forms of cooperation such as agreements, seminars, visiting exhibitions, meetings between officials and mutual visits between the two countries. Post Covid-19 pandemic enforced lockdown’s most recent form of mutual art and culture cooperation, whereby culture event resumed between both countries, was the world-class Russian ballet, the “Sleeping Beauty" concert, which was held in celebration of 9th Anniversary the Bahrain National Theater on 12 November, 2021.
