H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has attended the launch of “Global Tolerance Alliance” initiative, on 16 November 2021, which was held at the Italian pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020, UAE, coinciding with the International Day of Tolerance.
H.E Shaikha Mai Bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, speaking on this occasion said: "On the International Day for Tolerance, we would like to reaffirm our universal common values regardless of cultural differences; an element rather enriches the civilizations of mankind and human achievements. We are pleased to attend the launch of the Global Alliance for Tolerance from Expo 2020 Dubai in the United Arab Emirates."
H.E added: "The Kingdom of Bahrain is working with various brotherly and friendly countries to promote an environment of peace and global coexistence, embodying the vision of the leadership of the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, May God protect him. His Majesty’s pioneering vision and wisdom spearheading and supporting all global initiatives aimed to encourage dialogue with the other and achieve global peace and security”.
H.E has also pointed out that Bahrain is endowed with the necessary and historical elements that are essential to spread the culture of tolerance, given that it has always been a cradle of many civilizations that have settled and flourished on its land. Bahrain has always been at the cross-roads of civilizations, a meeting point for many peoples since the civilization of Dilmun until today.
This initiative is part of the activities organized by the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, honored to organize this interfaith meeting as part of Tolerance and Inclusivity Week at Expo 2020 Dubai. Indeed, the UAE is joining the entire world in its celebration of the International Day for Tolerance, as it was keen this year to keep pace with this occasion through the National Festival of Tolerance at Expo 2020 Dubai, in conjunction with the Tolerance and Inclusivity Week. The event brings together scholars, clerics, and intellectuals for interfaith dialogue and action, as well as other partners who are helping with its organization: Expo 2020 Dubai, the G20 Interfaith Forum 2021, the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity.
