The Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARC-WH), in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Youth (United Arab Emirates), is organizing an online ‘training workshop on the mechanisms and concepts of the World Heritage Convention and the nomination process’ from 20 to 22 September 2021, starting at 11:00 am-14:00 pm (UAE Time), via webinar Zoom platform.

 

The virtual workshop, targeting national stakeholders and heritage professionals from the United Arab Emirates, will shed lights on mechanisms of World Heritage and categories of underrepresented list of UNESCO’s World Heritage List, Modern Heritage, and synergies between natural and cultural heritage. Participants will receive training and information on the main concepts and processes of World Heritage and additional information on a range of heritage-related topics.

 

The workshop aims to strengthen the capacities of heritage professionals in the United Arab Emirates, enhance the protection and management of World Heritage Sites in the United Arab Emirates, and raise awareness of the importance of conserving modern heritage and natural heritage.

 

 In addition, the workshop program will cover seven main themes: Mechanisms of World Heritage, World Heritage in the Arab region and its Outstanding Value, Comparative Analysis of Arab Cultural and Natural sites, Criteria for the Assessment of the Outstanding World Value of Cultural and Natural Properties, Authenticity and Safety of properties, Management Guidelines and requirements of World Heritage Sites, Nomination Processes, Nomination File Documentation and Contents, Reactive Monitoring Process and Follow-up, Third Cycle of the Periodic Reporting for the conservation and monitoring of World Heritage Sites in the Arab countries and finally the Heritage of Urban and Architectural Modernities in the Arab World.
