Bahrain National Museum will the host the concluding lecture series dedicated to highlight the archaeological excavations in the Kingdom of Bahrain, featuring Dr. Masashi Abe,  National Research Institute for Cultural Properties, Tokyo,  and member of the Japanese Archeological Mission to speak about the latest excavation discoveries made by the team at Wadi-Al-Sail archaeological site. The lecture will be held on 29 September 2021  at 5:00 pm via Zoom, and the public can register to attend it by filling in the form on the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities’ website www.culture.gov.bh. The lecture will be in English.

Dr. Masashi Abe will shed lights on the important role played by the Dilmun civilization in the maritime commerce and trade, being at the crossroads of civilizations, and given that trade was critical to Old Babylonia, where many highly prized natural resources were scarce but agricultural goods were in surplus. Dilmunian traders also played a crucial role in the flourishing of these commerce activities between Ancient Dilmun and Mesopotamia. In addition, Dr. Abe will display the material historical and material remains of this civilization discovered at Wadi-Al-sail site, where hundreds of Dilmun Burial Mounds are still scattered around the riversides, as a testimony of a prosperous and flourishing Early Dilmun civilization.
