“From the Post” Concludes Its 3rd Edition, An Opportunity to Explore Manama’s Heritage, Culture and Architecture

Throughout February, Manama witnessed a vibrant cultural movement, hosting a diverse array of events under the From the Post initiative every Saturday. Organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, the initiative launched at the Post Office Museum, opposite Bab Al Bahrain, and spread throughout the historic city. The activities included tours, lectures, workshops, and traditional music performances. On Saturday, 22 February 2025, the final week of From the Post unfolded, highlighting the city’s architectural heritage.

Now in its third consecutive year as part of the Spring of Culture Festival, From the Post aims to strengthen the public’s connection with Manama’s rich cultural heritage, inviting them to rediscover the city’s history, markets, old neighbourhoods, arts, and architecture.
Each week of the programme carried a theme that shaped its activities, which ranged from exploration and photography tours to art workshops and discussions. The first week was titled Connections of Manama, followed by Administration of Manama, then Commerce of Manama, and concluded with Architecture of Manama.

The final Saturday’s events began with a morning tour of the historic schools of Manama, led by Ali Karimi, as well as an acrylic painting with music workshop conducted by Nada Al Muqahwi at the Post Office Museum. Later, Hassan Al Nasheet led a photography tour titled Shot and Essence. The day continued with a discussion on the Urban Form of Manama, hosted by Dr. Wafa Al Ghatam on Bab Al Bahrain’s upper terrace, and concluded with a performance by Dar Al Budaiya Al Janoubiya Band, held opposite Bab Al Bahrain, where the audience enjoyed an evening of traditional Bahraini music.

Throughout the programme, the Memory of Manama exhibition welcomed visitors daily at Bab Al Bahrain, which offered a glimpse into Manama’s 20th-century history with a focus on the buildings and roads that shaped its enduring identity. Additionally, the Post Office Museum’s terrace hosted Arena Speciality Coffee daily.
